Holiday Barrel Tasting Weekend Dec. 3-5, 2010

Winter in the Walla Walla Valley with fresh fallen snow carpeting the top of the Blue Mountains makes for a picture postcard vista and backdrop for the 2010 Holiday Barrel Tasting Weekend. Over 50 of the Valley’s wineries will be decked-out for the holiday season, welcoming thousands of guests, while offering a variety of festivities as unique as the wineries themselves.

Whether it is a locally catered spread, the infamous “Battle of the Soups,” or local hand-crafted chocolates, each winery will offer something special for their guests. Winemakers will be on hand to introduce their new wines as well as future wines still in the barrel. Visitors can be the first to enjoy the new vintage and take home a selection of wines, many of which can be found only by visiting the wineries and tasting rooms themselves. We hope you will plan to spend the Holiday Barrel weekend with valley’s wineries.

Seattle PI Reader Blog: Washington Wines: The best in the world?

The Seattle PI reader blog publishes an interesting blog on Washington Wines and the outlook on our future as “The best in the world”.

“I predict, sometime within the next 25-30 years, if not sooner, that Washington State will become known as the world’s best and most prolific wine region.”

ARAXI’S “BIG GUNS” DINNER features Walla Walla Valley Wine!

Whistler, BC | On Friday, November 12th, Whistler’s premier restaurant, Araxi, will celebrate a compelling collection of wines in an exclusive winemakers’ dinner during Cornucopia: Whistler’s Celebration of Wine and Food.

These five extraordinary wineries—four from the Napa Valley and one from Walla Walla—are all small, family-owned properties engaged in sustainable farming practices. Each of the wineries has achieved critical acclaim and international followings, and through the course of the evening, introductions to each wine will be led by winery principals, including discussion on technique and terroir. This insider’s tour of excellence in winemaking promises to be Cornucopia’s tour de force.

Executive Chef James Walt has created a distinctive five-course menu that highlights the excellence of the Pemberton Valley’s autumn harvest—alongside globally-sourced ingredients—with each plate married to these prized wines…
